The Role: Inclusive Climate Action Senior Manager
Location: Kenya (Remote)
Salary: KSH 6,302,899 per year

As the Senior Manager, you'll be a key player in C40's Inclusion and Global Leadership team, based in Kenya with remote flexibility. Your mission is to guide African cities in creating climate adaptation strategies that are inclusive, community-centric, and aligned with a just transition. This role is perfect for someone passionate about climate justice and ready to make a tangible difference.
What You'll Do:
Technical Leadership:
- Guide African cities in implementing climate adaptation actions from their Climate Action Plans.
- Embed equity and inclusivity in adaptation policies, ensuring they benefit all communities.
- Offer expert guidance on climate risk assessments and adaptation planning, considering social and economic factors.
- Design and manage technical assistance projects for impactful adaptation interventions.
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops and peer learning sessions.
- Provide policy expertise on topics like just transition, gender equity, and green jobs.
Coordination and Management:
- Align ICA activities with C40's global strategies within the Resilient Urban Futures program.
- Create annual work plans, monitor KPIs, and showcase program impact to funders.
- Integrate ICA principles across program areas through internal team collaboration.
- Identify pilot projects that foster inclusive city governance and community engagement.
- Share learnings and best practices across C40's network.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Forge strategic partnerships with city governments, civil society, community groups, and private sector entities.
- Bring together diverse stakeholders to champion inclusive climate adaptation.
- Support mayors in advocating for just transition and climate justice through policy analysis.
- Participate in regional and global forums to share knowledge and strengthen collaborations.
Organisational Support:
- Assist the ICA Deputy Director and Programme Director with reporting and donor relations.
- Contribute to C40's strategic direction, business plans, and performance indicators.
- Take on additional tasks to promote equitable climate action.
Who You Are:
- You have a proven track record of working with African municipal governments on climate action and adaptation.
- You deeply understand African climate contexts and equity debates.
- You excel at translating climate data into actionable policies and plans.
- Your stakeholder engagement skills are inclusive and participatory.
- You're an excellent project manager and communicator, with a talent for remote collaboration.
- You're fluent in English and a relevant local language, with the legal right to work in Kenya.
